She was alone at home when she was attacked since her granddaughter, Jessica Nakalumba, 8, had visited other relatives. The deceased’s neighbour, Enoch Birabwa, says that he didn’t hear any alarm or yelling for help. He explains that it is family members who found the body and called him.
Gonzaga Nsereko, the LC III chairperson Lyantonde rural sub-county, says that the shocking incident has left several residents in shock since the ongoing killings in the region are targeting elderly people. The police have not traced Kemirimo’s killers or established their motives.
In a related incident, the police are also investigating the death of a prominent retail shop owner in Mikomago village in Kyanamukaaka, Masaka district. Donozio Kakooza’s decomposing body was found in his house three days after his disappearance from his shop.
He was last seen alive last Friday. His family members and friends got concerned since he did not show up at his shop for three days and decided to check his house where they were greeted with a heavy stench.
According to George Kaggwa, one of the residents, Kakooza was staying alone after separating with his wife following a domestic dispute.
Muhammad Nsubuga, the Southern Regional Police Spokesperson, says they are investigating all the incidents to establish the cause and to arrest the suspects.
