Uganda has activated measles outbreak responses in nine districts since late June 2026, with 55 cases recorded and 37 laboratory confirmed by Epidemiological Week 36, according to Ministry of Health surveillance data.
The outbreaks were reported between 29 June and 4 September, with the latest responses activated in Namutumba and Kassanda on 4 September.
No deaths were reported among the nine outbreak sites.
The first response was activated in Napak on 29 June, where five cases were recorded, including three laboratory-confirmed infections.
A further response was activated in Apac on 20 July, with five confirmed cases. Budaka and Ntungamo followed on 24 July. Budaka recorded five cases, four of them confirmed, while Ntungamo recorded 11 cases, including three confirmed, the highest number of cases among the nine districts.
The response in Kiryandongo was activated on 31 July after six cases were recorded, four of them confirmed. Kakumirofollowed on 6 August with five cases, including three confirmed, while Sironko recorded six cases, five of them confirmed, after its response was activated on 14 August.
The most recent responses were activated in Namutumba and Kassanda on 4 September. Namutumba recorded six cases, all laboratory confirmed, while Kassanda recorded six cases, including four confirmed.
During the seven-day surveillance period from 31 August to 6 September, no new measles cases or deaths were reported across the nine outbreak sites.
The distribution of the outbreaks across different districts means health authorities continue to monitor for new cases and investigate suspected infections.
The surveillance data do not indicate whether the outbreaks are linked to one another or identify the factors behind the individual district clusters.
