Joseph Kato, a journalist with Uganda Radio Network, URN, talks about one of the stories he covered under the Health Journalists Network under the ‘Mobilizing Media Fighting Covid19’ project by Journalists for Human Rights which has contributed to international public health efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on human rights, in particular women’s and girls’ rights across 12 countries and is funded by Global Affairs Canada.
Kato’s story is a sad story of a 17 year old, Robert Senyonga who was killed because of enforcing COVID-19 orders. Kato was one of the fist journalists in Uganda to write about the fact that at the time that one person in Uganda was reported dead due to covid-19, at least five people had already died due to human rights abuses and here is the recording for Kato’s interview: https://fb.watch/8OoeYUfWEe/
