AXA Health International, which operates the AXA Global Healthcare brand, has launched a new collaboration in Tanzania with Alliance Insurance Corporation Limited and MIC Global Risks, marking a significant step in the company’s broader expansion across Africa.
The partnership aims to provide businesses, expatriates, and internationally mobile professionals in the region with access to the Global Executive Health Plan (GEHP), a premium international healthcare service.
This announcement follows the establishment of an exclusive distribution framework in October 2025 through a partnership with Executive Healthcare Solutions (EHS) that spans Kenya and other African markets. Within the Tanzanian market, MIC Global Risks serves as the exclusive distributor, handling client engagement, policy issuance, and servicing.
AXA Health International contributes its international healthcare administration, medical expertise, and global provider network, while Alliance Insurance Corporation Limited acts as the licensed insurer to ensure all operations comply with local regulation. As Tanzania grows as a hub for investment and trade, demand has increased for reliable healthcare that extends beyond national borders, especially for specialized treatments that may not be available locally.
The GEHP is designed to fulfill this requirement by offering structured access to internationally recognized hospitals and specialists, supported by services such as medical evacuation and coordinated cross-border care. Importantly, the GEHP functions as an international private medical insurance framework rather than a domestic health insurance scheme.
Karim Idilby, Chief Growth Officer at AXA Global Healthcare, noted that Tanzania represents an important milestone in the company’s global growth strategy and demonstrates a long-term commitment to Africa. He stated that by combining AXA’s global expertise with Alliance’s local experience, the collaboration is ideally positioned to become the leading international private healthcare provider in the region.
Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Alliance Insurance Corporation Limited, emphasized that as the economy grows and international mobility increases, the need for international protection has evolved to allow clients to access treatment abroad when necessary.
