The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is set to start collecting data for the community profiling module under the Parish Development Model (PDM) program in the Acholi subregion.
The exercise will focus on collecting data on available services in all the Parishes across the subregion, such as health facilities, infrastructures, schools, and water sources. This data will help in providing updated data to support the implementation of PDM and will also support the local government in making decisive resource allocation.
The Acholi sub-region was chosen for this data collection exercise because it was identified as one of the poorest regions in the country. The data collected will help the government to understand why this region has remained poor and to develop interventions to address the underlying causes of poverty.
The data collection exercise is expected to take two weeks and will be conducted by parish chiefs who have been trained on how to use the community profiling tools. The government has allocated resources to facilitate the parish chiefs in this exercise, including airtime and data bundle, transport, and data collection allowances.
The community profiling exercise is an important part of the PDM program and will help to ensure that the program is implemented effectively and efficiently. The data collected will be used to identify the needs of the communities and to track the progress of the program.
This is a positive development and I hope that the data collection exercise is successful. The PDM program has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of people in the Acholi sub-region and I am glad that the government is taking steps to ensure that the program is implemented effectively.
