Kibaale district has run out of COVID-19 Vaccines amidst an increasing number of people turning up at health facilities for vaccination. The district received 4,776 doses of Astra-Zeneca and 1,455 doses of Sinovac from the Health Ministry recently.
Godfrey Timbihurira, the Kibaale District Health Officer-DHO told Uganda Radio Network on Tuesday that they ran out of vaccines on Tuesday last week. He attributes the stockout to the high number of people flocking health facilities for COVID-19 vaccination.
Caroline Kashaiza Muyambi, the Kibaale Deputy Resident District Commissioner -RDC says they have already notified the Health Ministry to send more vaccines.
She has applauded the people of Kibaale for embracing the COVID-19 vaccination exercise, which she attributes to the massive sensitization by health workers, leaders and other stakeholders.
Kibaale district launched the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination of teachers and non-teaching staff last month.
The exercise targeted more than 1000 teachers in the district and close to 500 within Kibaale town council.
